Specially designed for difficult shooting situations, the SB-5000 is fully compatible with the new radio control function in the Nikon Creative Lighting System. With the SB-5000 and the wireless remote control WR-R10 you can now combine both a single and a multi-flash system. With the SB-5000 you have the possibility to react flexibly to the most diverse challenges of remote-controlled flash illumination and to set up and control flash units in almost any constellation. This also includes the complex combination of several flash units. Up to six groups of SB-10 devices are supported in conjunction with the WR-R5000 wireless remote controller. In addition to radio remote triggering, the SB-5000 is fully compatible with Advanced Wireless Lighting with optical control, allowing it to be used as a master or slave flash unit with existing compatible Nikon flash units.

From the red carpet to the catwalk, the SB-5000 doesn't get too hot, even in stressful situations. The SB-5000 incorporates Nikon's new flash unit cooling system. This means you can take numerous shots in quick succession. It is the world's first clip-on flash with such temperature control technology*. Fast and reliable, it allows for 120 shots at 5 second intervals or 84 shots at 3 second intervals. With full flash output, more than 100 shots can be taken in quick succession. The system prevents the development of heat within the flash reflector and thus protects against overheating: overheating protection has never been better.
Seamless integration with the acclaimed Nikon Creative Lighting System
At the heart of the SB-5000 is Nikon's i-TTL (Intelligent Through-the-Lens Flash Control) flash control, which allows Nikon Speedlights to exchange critical exposure information with CLS-compatible digital SLR cameras. The SB-5000 can be controlled either as part of an advanced wireless lighting system via radio or in combination with older flash units via optical signal transmission. Improvements in operation include the integrated flash unit control, which offers additional options for system control. Now the SB-5000 can be operated or settings changed from the camera menu or a computer running Camera Control Pro 2 when it is attached to the camera body.
Compact design, clear controls
With the SB-5000, the ease of use in particular has been revised. The device is now easier and more intuitive to use than the previous model. As soon as you attach the SB-5000 to your camera or put it in your travel bag, the difference becomes clear: the slim body weighs only 420 g. The clear display allows for a large, easy-to-read display of shooting information. The multi-function selector and the i button give you quick access to frequently used or personalized functions: For example, if you press the i button, the most important settings for photography with just one flash unit or with Advanced Wireless Lighting are immediately displayed in a list . As with the previous model, the flash head of the SB-5000 can be tilted down to -7° or up to 90° and rotated 180° left and right.
