The second generation of the Nikon image stabilization system delivers sharp results even in low ambient light by using up to four f-stops longer exposure times. Nikon's Nano Crystal Coat effectively reduces ghosting and flare. The lens body is made mostly of magnesium, with components made of heat-resistant engineering plastic. It is therefore particularly hard-wearing and well equipped for intensive use. Thanks to the rubber seals around the switch and bayonet, it can even be used in damp or dusty environments without any problems.
