Improved AF tracking and exposure control as well as the VR mode SPORT enable fantastic series of shots. A brand new optical design ensures optimal image quality from edge to edge. Nikon's Nano Crystal Coat effectively minimizes ghosting and flare. The integration of a fluorite glass lens in the front lens area saves weight while at the same time having excellent optical properties and also leads to improved balance.

The focal length of 70 to 200 mm covers most classic telemotives. The fast f/1 maximum aperture offers excellent low-light performance and consistent exposure throughout the zoom range. The closest focusing distance is now 2,8 m and the maximum magnification has been increased from 1,1:1 to 9,1:1. Photographers working with Nikon's high-resolution image sensors and SLR cameras with high frame rates are well prepared for every situation.
