Aspherical lens
A lens with a curved, non-spherical surface. Used to reduce aberrations and allow for a more compact lens size. Aspherical lenses minimize coma and other types of lens aberrations, even when used at the widest aperture. They are particularly useful in correcting distortion in wide-angle lenses and contribute to a lighter, more compact design by reducing the number of standard (spherical) elements required. Aspherical lens elements correct these distortions by continuously changing the refractive index from the center of the lens.
ED glass (Extra-Low Dispersion)
An optical glass developed by Nikon that is used together with regular optical glass in telephoto lenses to achieve optimal correction of chromatic aberrations.
Short wavelength refractive lens
SR is a high and special dispersion glass lens that refracts light with wavelengths shorter than blue. By controlling short-wavelength light, the lens is able to achieve highly precise chromatic aberration compensation, so the colors in your images are more accurately reproduced. It also allows for more flexible optical designs, allowing for more compact, lighter lenses to be designed.
Mesoamorphic mantle
Meso Amorphous Coat* offers the highest anti-reflective performance in NIKKOR history. Meso Amorphous Coat provides an effect superior to that of Nano Crystal Coat for diagonally incident light and an effect equal to or superior to ARNEO Coat for vertically incident light. Thanks to its excellent performance, ghosting and flare caused by incident light from different directions are noticeably reduced, providing clear images even in harsh conditions. *This coating system uses amorphous particles even smaller than nanoparticles to create even more gaps within the coating, forming an ultra-fine mesoporous structure that achieves a lower refractive index. In addition, a more precise base coat is used to further enhance the anti-reflection effect.
ARNEO coat
A Nikon-developed anti-reflective coating used in conjunction with Nano Crystal Coat to further reduce ghosting and flare effects caused by light entering the lens vertically. This allows images to be captured exceptionally clearly, even when a light source is within the frame.
stepper motor
NIKKOR Z lenses use a stepper motor for fast, precise, smooth and quiet autofocus with reduced shake. This quiet drive system makes the lenses ideal for use in video recordings.
BIN
A/M stands for Auto-Priority Manual Mode. This mode also allows for easy transition from autofocus to manual focus during AF operation. However, the sensitivity of the mode switch has been changed to reduce the possibility of a sudden unintentional switch to manual focus while shooting.
IF lens
A NIKKOR lens in which only the internal lens group shifts when focusing. Therefore, the size of ZF NIKKOR cameras does not change during AF operation, allowing for compact, lightweight lenses that enable shorter focusing distances. These lenses are marked with the abbreviation IF on the lens barrel.
Electromagnetic membrane mechanism
An electromagnetic aperture mechanism in the lens barrel provides high-precision electronic aperture or aperture blade control when using automatic exposure in continuous shooting.
